Holy Week
Holy Week for 2023 begins on Palm Sunday, 2 April, and concludes on Easter Day, 9 April.
Full details of how Holy Week is to be celebrated will be in the April edition of New Together.
Warm Spot – St Andrew’s Tent
The Spot opened for 11 days, however there was little demand so it has been closed.
The Parochial Church Council (PCC) is grateful to the Cumbria Community Foundation for their support of a grant to offset the costs, and the grant has now been returned to the Foundation.
The PCC would also like to thank Maureen, Elaine, Janet, Abi, Gill, Sally, Sue, Stella, Fran and Marianne who all gave their time willingly to man the Spot whilst it was open.
Greystoke Social Club

- Monday 20 March – How to give CPR and how to use the Defibrillator

Greystoke Parish Council
The next Parish Council meeting is on Tuesday 28 February at 7.30pm.
On Saturday 1 April, we shall sadly say goodbye to Eden District Council, as we shall then be a unitary Authority which combines Eden DC, South Lakeland, and Barrow, and we shall be called Westmorland and Furness.
On Thursday 4 May there shall be Parish Council elections, so now is the time for you to put your name forward to become a Greystoke Parish Councillor. I for one am standing down after serving on it for 44 years.
As we are warded, we need 6 councillors for Greystoke, 1 for Johnby, and 1 for Little Blencow. You will need to have your application in to the council 3 weeks before Election Day.

Greystoke WI
Greystoke WI celebrated the New Year in January with a meal at the Brantwood where we thanked Norman Lund and Andy Nicol for their help in revamping the WI garden. Hazel announced that she would be stepping down as President.
At our February meeting, we welcomed Sandra Pringle of Woolsty Crafts. After speaking about very precious memories of crafting from childhood onwards, Sandra gave us a lot of practical advice about knitting and crochet. She was very informative about how to judge the amount of wool you need and how to use yarns together to make thicker wool. We were shown some heirloom items and a beautifully soft heavy jumper which Sandra had knitted for her husband. Having dealt with yarn, she then turned her attention to patchwork and we were shown different designs accomplished in different ways with jelly rolls and layer cakes (!) They were all very beautiful. Her enthusiasm, energy and creativity was obvious and infectious.
In March we have our AGM followed by a slide show from David Bell. The competition is your photo or painting of The Lake District.
If you would like to join us please phone Hazel.

A Message from Shirley
I would just like to say a massive THANK YOU to everyone in the area.
I have been overwhelmed and totally surprised by the number of cards, with such lovely sentiments of Mel. Also the many flowers and plants, besides all the invitations to pop in for a coffee. I will take you up on these offers when all the admin side is complete.
Thank you, thank you all again … these are and will be a great comfort to me.
