The 10th Greystoke Beer Festival – 11th September 2021 from 6pm
The Beer Festival is not only a great chance to try some local ales, and socialise but it is also an important annual fund raiser for the Swimming Pool and Sports Committee. We look forward to seeing you there!
Please note that extra Covid-19 precautions are in place this year, and we are asking everyone to take a lateral flow / PCR test prior to arrival. Read more here
The Soul Survivors
From 9pm The Soul Survivors will be playing – guaranteed to provide a great evening’s entertainment!
The Soul Survivors have been playing together for 15 years now. 2 of the band members live in the village, with the other band members based in Penrith, Clifton and Carlisle. The Soul Survivors played at the very first beer festival 11 years ago (last year being cancelled due to Coronavirus).
They are honoured to have been asked to play for the tenth anniversary, and in support of such a good local cause.
Beer from Brack ‘n’ Brew
Based on the shores of Ullswater, at the Brackenrigg Inn, Brack ‘n’ Brew is Ullswater’s only microbrewery. They have a range of 5 Ales:
Rambling Bookkeeper Bitter 4.1% – a traditional session ale. Mellow honey aroma with a moderate hop bitterness and a sweet roast malt taste.
Boathouse Blonde 3.8% – Our very first, and still a personal favourite, this blonde packs a punch. Hoppy nose with hints of grapefruit, bitter but refreshing taste.
Alfred’s Golden Ale 3.2% – A very popular light crisp golden ale, a balanced hop flavour packed with citrus aroma and a hint of spice.
Steamer Stout 4.4% – Uses espresso beans from Bruce & Luke’s Coffee in Carlisle, which makes for a rich tasting stout with notes of chocolate, caramel and dark fruits.
Aira Force IPA 5.9% – Loaded with a combination of 5 different hop varieties, this powerful IPA is bursting with flavour.
There will also be a Pilsner from Tirril Brewery, Appleby, wine, prosecco and soft drinks available.
Food from the Shap Chippy Van
We won’t be serving food from the village hall this year. Instead we have invited the award winning Shap Chippy Van to provide a catering service from the Village Hall Car Park. Food will be available to purchase from 6pm to 8pm.
The Shap Chippy was runner up at the UK’s fish and chip awards 2020 and also won first place in the Marketing Innovation Awards.
Covid-19 Guidance – Please Read
We will be going ahead with the Greystoke Beer Festival unless government policy forbids us to do so. Having missed out last year we really do hope that all will be alright on the night.
- The music will be played in the Village Hall with windows and doors open for ventilation.
- There will be no tables or chairs in the hall.
- The bar will be in the garden along with some gazebos and seating areas.
We want to make the Greystoke Beer Festival 2021 as safe as possible for everyone attending and ask you to take personal responsibility and follow these guidance notes:-
Please get tested (Lateral flow or PCR test) within 36 hours of the beer festival and show your test result on entry. Lateral flow tests (LFTs) are available at pharmacies for no cost and are a test that you do in your own home with results in under an hour.
If you fail the LFT or have any symptoms, you must isolate and take a PCR test, available via online booking, at the NHS testing centre in Penrith. If a person in your household has Covid (i.e. you are a household contact of a positive case) please get tested and stay away.
If the results come back positive, please do the right thing, isolate and stay away from the beer festival and follow the guidelines from the NHS.
If you develop symptoms just before the date, then please don’t come. Let’s all have a good time and look out for each other by keeping this virus at bay.
You will be asked to give a contact number for your party for NHS Track and Trace on arrival at the venue.
Card payments at the event are preferred. Please queue sensibly for entry and be patient with us letting you in.
Let’s all have a good night and stay safe!
