Greystoke WI

Founded in 1920, Greystoke WI is open to any women from the village or surrounding area and is often open to all comers.

The main aims of the WI are to provide women with educational opportunities and the chance to build new skills, to enable women to take part in different activities and to campaign on issues that matter to them and their communities. Many WI members have a rich source of experiences, knowledge, and skills, enabling us to learn from each other, particularly at our Craft and Chat afternoons on a Monday.

At our general meeting on a Thursday we usually listen to a speaker and then enjoy tea and chat. Once a year we discuss what the WI should campaign about. Micro-plastics being washed into the oceans was one such campaign. We also have occasions when we join with other WI’s. One group meeting introduced us to StagedRight, a youth theatre company from Carlisle, which has ignited a permanent interest.

Additional Information:  We hope we are a friendly group and that you will receive a warm welcome if you come along to our meetings which are held at 7.30 p.m. on the first Thursday of the month in the Village Hall. If you would like to join us, please ring Hazel on 83685
